Let Go Now Embracing Detachment (Audible Audio Edition) Karen Casey Kristin Allison Audible Studios Books

So many of us spend so much time enmeshed in other people's problems, trying to solve or change them, that we don't really know where we end and they begin. Not reacting to people or situations that provoke us is not an easy skill to develop. It takes practice and conviction that not reacting, not increasing the drama, doesn't mean we don't care. On the contrary, we are freed to show genuine love and care only when we can detach from the knee-jerk need to fix, solve, rescue, or control. Even the idea that someone else can make us feel happy (or beautiful or angry) or we them is an illusion, says Casey in this remarkable book. All our feelings come from within and we get to choose how to respond to life.
The meditations in this power-packed little book provide us the tools we need to practice letting go of the illusion that we can control anyone or anything beyond our selves. Casey teaches us to focus on finding our own balance point and recognizing how to get to it whenever we find ourselves tempted to rescue or enmesh.

I have read a number of books on codependency and detachment and from a practical, rubber meets the road viewpoint, this one is the best. The format works well to be able to read just a few paragraphs at a time and really apply the principles. This will be a lifetime pursuit, but I can already tell a difference in the manner in which I'm letting others live and let live.Product details

Let Go Now Embracing Detachment (Audible Audio Edition) Karen Casey Kristin Allison Audible Studios Books Reviews
What does letting go mean? Does it mean giving up on the life you want? Does it mean forgetting the hurts and demands that drive you? Looking at your life through the lens of detaching offers a whole lot of release and help in an otherwise tangled heap of pain. Highly recommend this, especially if you are in so much emotional pain that you cannot concentrate on depth-defying books. This one offers deep thoughts in a readable manner, offering help when you're hurting.
Life-changing reads. I highly recommend this book to be read along with Change Your Mind and Your Life Will Follow by Karen Casey. My life has been changed from ok to awesome in every possible way! Absolutely amazing!!
This is a very simple, daily meditation book. However, it is suggested you can skip around, stay on a lesson as long as you want, etc. That is what I do. I've been on the same reading for a long time. I was grieving letting go of a long term relationship with a friend, not the opposite sex. I felt sad yet I knew the relationship needed some real space. I found this helpful
Detachment how to distance oneself from the bad behavior and comments of others. I like the approach the author takes in her writings about detachment short segments, rather than long and drawn out chapters. I like the positive thinking snipets that are on each page as well. Quotes in the front of the book, and Pause and Reflect sections throughout, where readers can stop and reflect on their experiences with difficult people, and how they have managed or will manage them in the future. This is definitely easy reading, Much easier to stick with than other drier self help books I have read. Karen Casey makes reading pleasurable, and fun as well. I recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with someone in their life that constantly behaves inappropriately, says the wrong things, or who plain just doesn't know where boundaries lie----mainly, people who drive you crazy.
In a word , excellent. Thankyou Karen. I could not make a connection with "codependent no more."From the first page this is the book I've be longing to find.Your words of encouragement and support gently speak to me like a loved one whispering in my ear. As I have practiced ,I have become.
Instantly relieves anxiety by reminding me I do not need to control it or even make it my business. As a Christian, when someone recommended this book, my first thought was that detaching was not “the Christian” thing to do, but this book clearly shows that it is indeed the Christian thing to do! Easy to read as each page is it’s own blog. I’m reading front to back, but you could easily crack it open to any page to get relief.
For the first time, I truly grasp the meaning of co-dependency. This book, in simply-written, brief paragraphs, takes the reader step-by-step through releasing others to live their lives and reclaiming one's own self. I use the book daily, one reading at a time, to tutor my own self reclamation project. It gently leads. It encourages and coaches. I have found it to be invaluable, a book I can come back to time and time again.
